ALTERED CARBON SEASON 2 - SENIOR MOTION GRAPHICS DESIGNER
I was responsible for a number of sequences and elements across series 2 of this show. Working with a combination of Cinema 4D and After Effects to deliver a wide range of immersive, holographic and screen based graphics that fell in line with the first season and elevated the sci-fi aesthetic of the world.

VR Transition
A key moment in the show is the transition into the VR construct. This was built with a combination of Cinema 4D elements and camera move, comped in After Effects where more elements were added. X-Particles and poly fx were used to generate the structure of the room.
Holographic Interface
There are a number of different holographic interfaces in the show but this was one of my favourites to work on. The key here was to use 2D elements in After Effects to build a sense of depth in the graphics, making them feel like they were really there in the scene.
Oni Interface
The Oni is a head up display interface carried over from season one of the show. In this particular shot it was being used to identify the danger of a grenade set to go off. I used the 3D geometry of the grenade to build a scan effect in layers that triggers the warnings.
Holographic Interface
This was the largest holographic shot in the show. The challenge here was to match the hand movements of the actors because the scene is quite chaotic. This was primarily built in Cinema 4D with graphics from animated layers from After Effects being used as textures on cards in the 3D space.
Facial Recognition Screen Graphics
This scene was quite complicated as there were existing on-set graphics that needed to be matched and then developed so the elements would fit into the edit correctly. A combination of X-Particles passes from Cinema 4D and Trapcode passes from After Effects eventually made up the final element to reveal the faces during the scanning process.
Holographic Interface
In this hologram shot it was important to build a sense of depth in the space while incorporating a startup animation for the elements.
Holographic Interface
One of the final shots in the series, the focus here was on the element in the middle of frame which was designed and animated to trigger a chain reaction in the other supporting holographic elements.
