RON'S GONE WRONG - LEAD MOTION GRAPHICS DESIGNER
I was a lead artist across a number of sequences on this film with responsibility for design, animation and pipeline processing. Primarily I was involved with the setup, design and animation of the screens in the Bubble HQ but I also contributed to several of the bot skins with design, animation and integration of PIP elements.
Bubble HQ Control Room
This was one of the biggest assets on the show with 16 individual desk screens, the table screen, a roof screen and then a complete wraparound 360 main screen. It was seen in multiple sequences and needed to convey a multitude of different story points.
Bubble HQ Control Room
In this scene the control room was seen at night and therefore was designed to have a dark mode. The technical setup to get all of the different assets to pipe through to the final render system was a huge undertaking.

The individual desk screens were often used for key story telling points. Graphics would have to be animated in after effects and timed out to hit key markers in the shot before being shared through the pipeline to appear in shot.
PIP Screen Graphics
As part of the bot skin function, they were required to have a user interface that could reveal a Picture in Picture. This interface had a number of functions relating to messaging, playback and social media within the context of the show.
Bot Skins
As part of the background animation for the whole show, I was involved in animating a number of different designs featuring on the skin of the bots. These included the zombies, gaming bots, several characters from Star Wars and even a yellow submarine.
Bespoke Ron Skin Designs
The main character Ron had a very simplified ski design compared to the others as part of the story. He did however have a number of functional UI elements that needed to be designed for him. These included a file system, some data analysis graphics, and a pair of underpants.
Bot Skins
One of my favourite bot skins to work on was the rocket ship in the opening scene. I built a particle system in After Effects to generate an animation for the flames coming from the engines of the rocket.
